WHAT IS OUR PRODUCTION PROCESS?

Our process is the same whether you’re shooting a small budget or large budget video with us.  We’re as collaborative as you want or need us to be.  We want to make it easy for you.  We have several small steps that make it very easy to understand where you’re at in the process and what all of your options are.  You may not do this all the time, but we do, and we’ll help you along the way.

15yrs working in film and television in Hollywood has taught us more than one thing, but one of the biggest things is pre-production and taking the approach that every idea can be better than just propping up a camera and light and shooting.

We have a very collaborative pre-production process that starts with a conversation (in-person, call or virtual) to understand any goals and actions/reactions wanted from the project and budget concerns. With initial ideas and goals in mind, we discuss and build, delivery style and format.

  •  For your particular audience, and the reaction you want from them, there IS a science for the length of every video, the style of shots to use and how it should be paced and edited together.  This includes the styles of cameras used, style of shooting, lighting, editing and music. This is the old cliche saying that your video is only as good as its weakest part.  If one of these “parts” aren’t right, then your audience will start to pick apart the video and find reasons it’s not working without even knowing exactly why they don’t like it. It’s the aesthetics and theory behind filmmaking and driving psychological reactions, wants and needs from your audience. We carefully craft all elements, and never go below our professional level of production, checks and balances to ensure your video(s) are at the highest level and working on all levels.  We never “just” shoot or “just” edit your videos.

If scripting is needed, our writers jump in and begin the process and then send to your team for a review process to make sure your voice has landed on the page.

Storyboarding is always an option for our clients, but isn’t always necessary.  Have our professional graphic designers draw scene by scene a storyboard for your video production, giving you visual cues for the intended video from start to finish.

We’re ready to move to production once you, the client, have approved the message, mode of delivery, style, format and budget. OUR GOAL is that everyone understands and is comfortable with the final product and has a clear vision of what the video(s) will look like before we ever hit the record button.  We don’t want any surprises at review time other than, “it’s even better than what we had imagined.” If you have an rfp for video production you’d like us to present, message us right away!

Our production team will handle as much of the scheduling as you need. Your team, ours, crew, actors and anyone else that helps take the stress off.  Shoot days are scheduled based on the needs of the project and scheduling and are loosely quantified during initial discussion and budgeting.

Shoot days are fun and crazy.  It feels like there’s never enough time, but we always get everything planned.  Shoot days are organized and coordinated with your team based on your needs and availability.

Editing is where the magic takes place.  Edit days are based on the amount of footage shot and overall length of the video(s).  Number of edit days are generally determined during initial discussions and finalized based on approved script.

We absolutely love live, in-person reveals and reviews if possible.  We want to address first impressions, questions and concerns immediately, knowing that it is sometimes difficult to view it from the perspective of the third-party viewer.  If a “live” review is not possible, then we provide a showcase link for easy streaming and not logging where the reviewer can click anywhere on the video and make notes like, “loved this part,” or “that left the entire room in tears, great job.”  You can also add questions or suggest shots be changed out 🙂

Addressing any notes from the review, we head back into the edit bay if necessary and provide another round of edits.

Once approved, your video(s) are output and delivered in any and all formats requested.
